You need 4 yrs (8,000 hrs) practical experience under a licensed master or completion of approved apprenticeship + 1 yr journey-level experience.. Then pass the NJ Master Plumber Exam (National Standard Plumbing Code + NJ amendments) administered by PSI Services. Applications go through the NJ State Board of Examiners of Master Plumbers.
